Don’t tell Pagey!

Friends of our beloved Pagey Elliott have initiated a request which has now been sanctioned by the Golden Retriever Club of America Board of Directors and the Directors of the Golden Retriever Foundation, but we need YOUR help to bring this dream to fruition.

The GRCA Board has formally proposed to the GRF Board that “a special fund be separated from the     current General Fund of the Foundation to be devoted to all phases of education and named to honor Rachel Page Elliott. To this end they have pledged $5,000   of the $25,000 required for the establishment of a      GRF named fund. Joy Viola, GRF Director of Development, has agreed to raise the  remaining $20,000.

The GRCA proposal suggests that the purpose of this fund might include, but not be limited to, public     education, outreach to teachers, veterinary students and practitioners, the promotion of spay-neuter      efforts, and the establishment of scholarships at selected Veterinary Schools for students interested in canine anatomy and physiology, animal behavior and       veterinary medicine. Continuing education scholarships also might  be established for practicing veterinarians in breed-specific health issues.

Through her book and video, Dogsteps, and her numerous lectures on dog gait given to audiences around the world, Pagey Elliott’s insights into bone and joint motion, sound structure, and the Golden Retriever breed standard  have  made  her a  mentor  to many.

Friend and adviser to judges, breeders, pet owners, rescue organizations and any       individual who seeks her counsel, Pagey  continues to serve the Golden community and at age 92 may still be found in the  Agility ring with her beloved Golden, Tammy! We can all learn much from Pagey. Elliott!

But we must keep this a secret from Pagey until we raise the money needed to name this fund in her honor!* Time is of the essence. We’d like to announce this at the September 29th Gala at the 2005 GRCA National. Please send in your check today!
